TOI: Durga Nagpal reinstated with ‘full honours’, inquiry called off
LUCKNOW: Two months after she was suspended for ordering the demolition of a wall surrounding a mosque in Gautam Budh Nagar, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday reinstated IAS officer Durga Sakthi Nagpal with "full honours". Nagpal's sudden recall comes as a surprise as government officials have been claiming her reinstatement will only be done after the "due procedures" are completed.
TOI: UP SSP beats up staff for making politician wait; suspended
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday suspended Moradabad's senior superintendent of police Rakesh Modak after the officer roughed up three police support staff at his residence on Saturday. Modak allegedly beat up his staff members after they failed to inform him about senior Samajwadi Party leader HT Hasan's visit and kept him waiting at his residence. Home department officials said senior district police received written complaints against Modak from three police support staff, also called "followers", Guman Singh, Sunder Singh and Daya Kishan, that they were beaten up by the officer without reason.
TOI: Jailer greets BJP MLA arrested for Muzaffarnagar riots with folded hands LUCKNOW: The jailer of Orai prison in Jalaun district was caught on camera on Sunday with folded hands, greeting BJP MLA Sangeet Singh Som brought to jail after his arrest for allegedly instigating communal passions that triggered the Muzaffarnagar riots in which 48 people were killed. While Som was "welcomed" by jailer LP Singh, other jail staff saluted the MLA on his arrival at Orai prison.
