“Can there be a more blatant misuse of CBI by the Congress than this?”
- Nirmala Sitharaman
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested by the CBI in May 2012. He has been accused of misusing his closeness to his father.
“Keeping Jaganmohan in custody for 16 months without adequate reason and letting him go today without any protest seemed very odd. More importantly, more than six cabinet ministers who are equally accused in these very cases where Jagan is accused no. 1 continue as ministers,”

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the son of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy who died in a helicopter accident in 2009.
Keeping an eye on the CM's chair following his father’s death, Jagan left the Congress in 2010 and formed the YSR Congress in 2011.
A report appeared in Mumbai Mirror, says: "Jagan's strategic step of dashing off his resignation letter as MP to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar last month in protest against the Telangana decision without settling the issues of Hyderabad, water, power and resource sharing has helped him in enhancing his image."

So, what about political influences on cards?
Here is a report in TOI in this context: "While inside the jail, Jagan was building up his party brick by brick. The party now boasts of 17 MLAs and insiders say that he has identified candidates for nearly 70 to 80 % of the 175 assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats that would remain with Seemandhra once the new state is carved out. Political analysts have been predicting that the fight in Seemandhra is between YSR Congress, TDP and Congress and that the Jagan party could emerge as the one with the most number of seats."
