“We are not politicians and do not understand the game of politics. We have joined (politics) to prevent the country from being looted by those who were elected by the aam aadmi to serve them.”
This is what Arvind Kejriwal said while announcing the formation of a new political out fit ready to fight coming elections.
Arvind Kejriwal has been unanimously elected the national convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Also, Pankaj Gupta and Krishna Kant have been elected national secretary and treasurer respectively.
All the three were elected unanimously by the 23-member National Executive Committee.
“These people have been authorised by the Executive Committee to take appropriate measures to approach the Election Commission for registration. We have also taken steps to open bank accounts and receive donations.”
- Prashant Bhushan, Founder member of AAP
“The Aam Aadmi (common man) is synonymous with the Congress since 1885 when the party came into existence. Therefore, nobody can either hijack or skyjack or bicycle-jack the intrinsic relationship between the Congress and the people of this country.”
- Manish Tewari, Congress Leader
